Wobbly Dudley
Dudley's first challenge was the floating jetty. He was a little concerned about it wobbling to start with, but soon got used to it.
Thinking about it
He wasn't too sure about jumping into the cockpit, but once we were both aboard he wanted to be there too!
Safely aboard
He looked very pleased with himself once he was on board and soon made himself at home.
Lifejacket
"Does my bum look big in this?" Because he has rather an unhealthy interest in ducks at home, we thought it best to put his lifejacket on for his first trip.
Dudley underway
Didn't bother him though. He was just interested in watching the world go by.
Dudley moored
We moored up at Nobles Field in St Ives for a spot of late brunch and Dudley settled down by the mooring ropes.
Keeping watch
Dudley seemed to really enjoy the breeze as we gently made our way upsteam.
What's out here?
Like Geezer before him, Dudley soon discovered he could get his head out of the front side windows. Means he doesn't feel so cut off from us while we moor up or negotiate a lock.
Sunbathing
Initially when we moored he got very excited at all the other dogs being walked nearby, but after a walk he settled down for a well-earned rest
What's that?
But every now and then, something would get his attention again!
Snoozing...
He seemed to find the sound of the engine and the gentle movement of the boat very soothing and soon had a snooze.
Taking it all in
With so many things to see, it's no wonder he was worn out when he got home.
Fussing...
Back at the marina, before we left the boat and headed for home, there was just enough time for a cuddle and a fuss with his dad.
Relaxing riverside
When we first got him, we found Dudley quite hard to photograph well, probably because he is black. But we are starting to get the hang of it now!
Smile please!
And here is Dudders, smiling for the camera...
... and again!
... and again
Sniffing...
The thing he loved most was sniffing the air as we cruised along.
Eggy bread treat
As a treat for being a good boy (well most of the time!) he got a bit of eggy bread from our brunch.
Noble hound
And here is Dudley looking very noble (appearances can be deceptive!).
What's over there?
And here he is showing off his magnificent spotty chest, while Marina chats to daughter on the mobile! In the background you can just see a narrow boat mooring up a bit further along.
